More Than English

Let’s start with the amazing campus! The school is very huge. When I arrived, I was impressed. The school has big gardens, a swimming pool, two tennis courts and two football pitches. Also, there are lots of rooms.

As far as the accommodation, I like my room! It’s very beautiful and the name is Rose. The room is big and all of the walls are pink. The bed is not bad, it’s comfortable. I share the room with five other students from different countries; such as, Spain, Italy and Lebanon. Plus, the house parents (Valentina and Becky) are so kind!

As for the English lessons, they are interesting! Everyday we do different things and we learn new things. Also, we learnt new vocabulary and the teacher made sure we had learnt the word with a box game.

I really liked the Get Ahead sports options. Last week, I chose tennis and I had a great time. This week I’m going to do soccer and I really like it. I couldn’t believe that in just one week the tennis teacher is my friend. He is very funny, I taught his some words in Spanish and it was fun to hear.

Another big plus is the mix of nationalities. I met other teenagers from all over the world; like: Italy, Lebanon, Germany, Spain, France, Lithuania and Ukraine. I became good friends with all the people, but especially with the girls from Italy, Lebanon and Spain.

In addition to the study options, we had a lot of choice on the excursions and activities too. Last week, we did three trips. For example, on Wednesday I went shopping in Birmingham . On Saturday I went to Liverpool to the Beatles museum, it was interesting. On Sunday we went to Ludlow castle. It was really nice and with great views. Also, we did a lot of activities like: hockey, benchball, tennis and football.

All in all, More Than English was perfect to learn English and have fun at the same time. Finally, I’m going back home with new international friends!

More Than English

The campus is located in the countryside so it's very climatical. The buildings are old but solid. The classrooms are modern with interactive white boards.

We sleep in our rooms with students from different countries. The rooms are really nice, High Street is the best. But that isn't very important because we don't spend a lot of time in them.

For breakfast we always get cereal, toast and something hot to eat for example scrambled egg, porridge, bacon. For lunch and dinner the chef prepares food from different countries. Typical British fish and chips, Italian pasta or Mexican wraps. We always get dessert like cake. You can always choose some salads. There are also options for vegans and vegetarians.

We met students from different countries, different cultures and languages. That's very cool. I made lots of friends and we will definitely stay in touch.

The teachers are great. We learned lots of fun things for example how to write a great story, meditation and we also did a debate about topics that are important for us. Get ahead options are very fun. It's great that you can choose what ever class or activity you want because you can learn topics that interest you.
All in all, More than English is really a great school. I loved it here. It was the best camp in my life even though I had to go to school. I had a lot of fun. It was a great experience that I will remember for a long time.

I think the campus is really great, because it's very big and has lots of enjoyable places, there is a swimming pool, tennis courts, really huge gardens. The bedrooms are really amazing, and I loved mine, it's really big and my roommates were really nice and from different countries so we called all practice our English.

The food was different from what I'm used to but this way I had the chance of tasting new things, some that I liked and some others that I didn't like. But in general it was good.

The lessons were really great, because we were learning new things but also having some fun. We have practice at speaking, writing, in different and original way and I think that all of us have improved.

In my opinion the get Ahead activities are very fun and we had many different options to choose so everybody could do what they enjoyed the most. The first week I did business and it was a very great experience, and I think it was really worth choosing that option.
International experience. It was really amazing to have people from so many different countries and be able to speak in one language. We also have learned a lot of things about the other countries like traditions, food, and many other interesting facts.

All in all, this summer school has been incredible, because here I have made new friends from different countries and I have had a really great time in all the activities and trips. I have improved my speaking and writing skills and had several new experiences.

Summer camp

More Than English summer school is designed to help you learn and study English in a funny way. It’s aimed at teenagers from all around the world. The people here can play, make friends, take lessons and such a lot of different things.
Teens can meet new people and enjoy their time all together in classes, bedrooms… Although they can spend their time doing activities, going to the swimming pool too. The teachers will recommend you the cheerful activities, but don’t worry all are so good.
Apart from that obviously you’re going to take some lessons 3 hours every morning. But they’re okay, cause the teachers to improve different ways to speak or use our English.
Finally, I would recommend you this experience because you are going to have a great time with the activities, excursions and of course with your new international friends.

summer school at ludlow

Our sons went last summer to more than english course. There was the first time we have left them alone abroad, but we always feel they were looked after incredibly well.
They learnt a lot, very motivated to speak English everywhere, made friends of different countries and did so many excursions and activities. When we went to pick up them they didn't want to return home!
The landscape is incredible.
I would definitely recommend it.

Agradecimiento a More Than English desde México

David:

More Than English Summer School

This summer was one of the most different experiences of my life. First of all, I met people of 13 different nationalities, cultures and thoughts making friendships that I’m taking with me forever. Two weeks in a beautiful big campus, with large green fields, a swimming pool, tennis courts and football fields. The rooms were big and with a lot of space. I shared my room with 5 girls of 5 different nationalities, and it was really fun!
Summer school is about classes too, but my teacher and my classmates were the best ever! We had so much fun that we didn’t even feel bothered about having classes. I had 10 classmates of 7 different nationalities.
The food on the campus was really diverse, but I hope next year it isn’t as spicy as it was this year and I hope they put salt in it. My favourite meals were croissant for breakfast, lasagna for lunch and barbecue outside for dinner.
About the Get Ahead options, I did film and dance, but I preferred film. It was funny, challenging and dynamic. There were special features like archery, zorb football, paintball and cardio tennis which were so much fun I can’t describe! There were some excursions too, to Bath, Birmingham and London: so much fun! We saw a lot of England and its culture.
I had an amazing summer, so thank you More Than English for making it happen.

More Than English 2016

My experience at More Than English was amazing.

The accommodation was great, a traditional English building with modern technology in the classrooms. There was also a swimming pool, a lake, an art classroom, sports hall and a design classroom. On the massive green areas there were multiple football, cricket, rounders, tennis and golf pitches/courses.

The food was exceptional. There were some traditional British dishes such as fish and chips, but there were also dishes from rest of the world. One day we had a French breakfast, followed by a Mexican lunch! You'll occasionally stumble upon something you don't really like, however there will be many more dishes that you'll enjoy.

The staff was always friendly, nice and approachable.

The English lessons were based on various TED talks which meant that it inspired us to debate on many topics. The classes were dynamic, one day we pretended to be investigators, while the next day we pretended to be art experts buying different artworks without knowing their real price. It was really funny finding out that the painting you paid 100 million pounds for is actually only worth about 500 pounds in real life.

What makes this school special are Get Ahead options. They are afternoon classes which are all about one topic you choose. It can be speech making, golf, tennis, football, film, dance and many more. Through these classes you meet professional coaches and teachers.

The excursions were also great, we visited a lot of cities in the whole England including London and Birmingham.

The activities were, in my opinion, the best part. We played many sports, went to the cinema, played paintball, zorb football, had a fashion show and did some cooking. You could always choose which activity you would prefer. For example, one day while I was playing football, some of my friends were in the swimming pool and some were doing archery!

My trip to England on summer 2016 was a very positive experience and I recommend More Than English to anyone looking for a perfect summer school.

Alina Kokina review

The school itself is gorgeous. It is old but beautiful. The school had plenty of facilities like a big swimming pool, tennis court, sports hall and other places like football and cricket pitches. There was a lot of green spaces around the school and a lot of wonderful views of hills, fields and farms. Toasting marshmallows on the campfire was one of my best memories from the summer school.

The accommodation itself was ok. We had a huge dorm with 6 people in it. Sometimes it was too much and felt overcrowded but other times it was very funny (particularly at night).

Moving on to the food, I loved it! It was different every day and we had various types of international food for lunch and dinner like Mexican, Italian. My favourite ones were rice and curry and a wonderful vegetarian lasagne. By the way, there was a great choice of vegetarian and vegan food which was delicious. Breakfast was quite similar every day but we did have more choice other than toast and cereal. The coffee was pretty good too.

Overall, More Than English summer school was a great opportunity to improve my English. Chatting with people from around the world was super interesting. It really feels like my English skills developed quite a lot.
